HARC General Membership Meeting Minutes February 15, 2019 The meeting was called to order at 7:02pm by Zach, KE8BSM. Attendance: 21 Secretary’s Report: Accepted as posted. Treasurer’s Report (Rich, WA8MTI): General Fund: $2,721.20 Membership Fund: $ 578.34 Cash on hand: $ 2.75 Total: $3,302.29 Treasurer’s report was accepted as read. Upcoming Events: VE Testing: The upcoming VE Testing session will be on March 9th, 6pm at Chick-Owa. “Ham in a Day”: Ham in a Day will be held at 1pm on April 13th at Chick-Owa. VE Testing follows the event at 6pm. Jeff, KD8THX will be presenting a video on “Transistors as Amplifiers” and discussing the use of quarter-wave stubs to help with QRM. March 8th Club Meeting: Ron, KD9IPO will talk about distracted driving laws and how they relate to ham radio. 2 Meter Net: The 2m net of the Holland Amateur Radio Club is held each Monday at 7:30pm on the 147.06 repeater. GRLevel3: Zach, KE8BSM: Given all the recent weather events around West Michigan as of late with winter’s fury hitting us full force, we may not realize it but Severe Weather Season is approaching us. One of the tools used to help the SKYWARN Storm Spotter community during all types of significant weather events is GRLevel3. GRLevel3 is the radar program used by a vast majority of Storm Spotters across the US. Ottawa County SKYWARN is hosting a FREE GRLevel3 Training Course out at the Fillmore Complex, 12220 Fillmore St, West Olive, MI 49460, on Thursday, February 21st at 7:00 PM. We will be meeting in the EOC Training Room. Topics will be ranging from how to read radar data and a very basic understanding of radar data all the way to how to use GRLevel3 efficiently and get maximum use out of it as well as some pretty cool modifications you can overlay on the radar. Old Business: Winter Field Day: HARC operated at Holland State Park on January 26th and 27th. It will be set up by Jeff, KD8THX for use in radio programming, electronics education, etc. MMDVM Build: Dan K8DY & Jeff KD8THX presented a new build project: Multi-Mode Digital Voice Modem (MMDVM).
