General Membership Meeting Minutes January 8, 2018 The meeting was called to order at 7:03pm by Tom, K8TB. Tom took a moment to thank Nick, KD8JBG for his two years as President of the HARC club. Secretary’s report for December was accepted as posted. Treasurer’s report (Rich, WA8MTI): General Fund = $2,920.58 Membership Fund = $213.70 Cash on hand = $30.00 Total = $3,164.28 Treasurer’s report was accepted as read. Upcoming Events: “Ham in a Day” Ham in a Day will be held at 1pm on April 14th at the VictoryPoint Ministries Youth Building. VE Testing follows each event at 6pm. Upcoming VE Testing session will be on March10th, 2018. E.A.T. This month’s E.A.T. meeting is going to be on January 22, 2017 led by Jeff, KD8THX. 2 Meter Net – The 2m net of the Holland Amateur Radio Club will begin at 7:30 at 147.06. All amateur radio enthusiasts are welcome to join the net. Please check in and join the fun! Feel free to reach out to Ed to take Net control. Simplex Net - Plan to be on 2 Meter Simplex at 146.430 MHz, now starting at 8:30P in the evening. This net is headed up by Aaron Folkert, KD8VUN. If you would like to act as net control or have any ideas for improving the net, please contact Aaron. Hope to hear you on the air! Aaron needs a net control for the net on Tuesday, January 9th, 2018. . New Hams Dinner: Circle Saturday, February 3, at 2:00 p.m. on your new 2018 calendar! That’s the date and time of the West Michigan “Get Outta the Cabin” dinner. This year, it’s being held at the Pizza Ranch, 3858 28th Street, SE in Kentwood. A room is reserved for the dinner. No reservations are needed – just come and have fun. HARC Holiday (a.k.a. Post Festivus Dinner): Jan 15th at 6:00PM at Golden Coral in Holland. Ottawa County Skywarn Training 6:30P – Hudsonville High School Ham Fests: Check the aarl.org website. Old Business: Dave WA8RSA: 10-15 years ago, we had Internet access at the Holland Hospital station. Holland Hospital may be able to have new cable installed for $791 if HARC supplies half of the cost ($395.50). Tom, K8TB: motion to provide $400 towards the project. Motion passed. Holland Hospital accepted our offer of $400 towards the project and is moving forward. New Business: Yaesu DR2X Repeater – Opportunity to trade in our DR1 and get the DR2X for $500.00 with IRMS board. Club should take some time to think over the opportunity if we want to do this in order to take advantage of the offer and see if we want update our fusion repeater options. Tom made a motion to authorize a budget item to not to exceed $95.00 on updating our website domain, motion was accepted Tom made a motion to change our Membership to an anniversary date, motion was accepted. Checking to see if HARC has sponsored books at the local library with information on Amateur Radio. Dave, WA8RSA took a moment to present Jeff, KD8THX with the HARC Amateur Radio Club Ham of the Year. The business meeting was adjourned at 7:48pm.
