General Membership Meeting Minutes June 12th, 2017 The meeting was called to order at 7:05pm by Nick, KD8JBG. Secretary's Report (Josh, KE8DXB): - Approved Minutes of the May 2017 meeting were accepted as published on the website. Treasurer's Report (Rich, WA8MTI): General Fund: $3,445.48 Membership: $101.75 Cash: $10.00 Total: $3,557.23 Treasurer's report was accepted as read. Upcoming events: Ham Fests: Information regarding upcoming Ham Fests can be found on the ARRL website. VE Testing: VE Testing is conducted at the Victory Point Ministries youth building on the second Saturdays of March, July, November, and December at 6pm. Kim, K8NAL gave a recap of the recent testing session: 2 new technicians, i General upgrade, 1 Extra upgrade. The next VE testing session will be held on July 8th. E.A.T This month’s E.A.T. meeting will be held on June 26th, 2017, led by Jeff, KD8THX. “Ham in a Day” Our next Ham in a Day will be held at 1pm on August 12th. VE Testing follows each event at 6pm. All amateur radio enthusiasts are welcome to join the net. Please check in and join the fun! Feel free to reach out to Ed to take Net control. Simplex Net - Plan to be on 2 Meter Simplex at 146.530 Mhz at 7:30 this evening. This net is headed up by Aaron Folkert, KD8VUN. If you would like to act as net control or have any ideas for improving the net, please contact Aaron. Hope to hear you on the air! Old Business: Windmills on the Air – held May 14th. Phil K8PVH and Jeff KB8QAP ran the station, and they reported that the event went well. They and the club were mentioned on Amateur Radio Newsline episode 2066 (available at http://bit.ly/2rkI6yk). The story starts at 13:45 into the podcast. They interacted with visitors and got to meet with the De Zwaan miller. Spark in the Park: This year’s event will be held on August 19th from 9am-1pm. Ten clubs have confirmed their involvement in the event. Michigan State Parks on the Air (MSPOTA): From the MSPOTA Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/MSPOTA2017/): “The NORTHERN MICHIGAN AMATEUR RADIO SERVICE TEAM (NM8RT) is working directly with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Parks & Recreation Division to operate a three year HAM Radio event "Michigan State Parks on the Air". MSPOTA is slated to kick-off in June of 2017.” Jeff, KB8QAP: we are planning on activating Holland State Park in July. Repeater Maintenance: The repeater had an exciter that went bad and it has been fixed with parts from our back up. No back up repeater at this time, but we are working on a backup plan. Tom, K8TB is in contact with Laryn, K8TVZ. Field Day: Details are available online on the HARC homepage (https://hollandarc.org). Budget: Motion to spend not more than $400 for field day supplies, including food, gas, and a $100 donation to East Saugatuck Community Park. Motion passed. Our ARRL insurance covers our liability wherever we have an official event. Setup will begin on Saturday around 9-11am. Phil K8PVH, Bob K8RJB, and Jeff KB8QAP will serve as safety officers. Saturday Demonstrations: Tom, K8TB: will place 2-3 hidden transmitters starting around 1pm. Zach, KE8BSM: 3-4pm (will attempt to livestream on YouTube) Jeff, KD8THX: starting at noon. The club will receive extra points for: Running stations using emergency power Operation below 150 watts Media publicity - Jon, KE8GIK: Herrick Library has received the Field Day poster.
