General Membership Meeting Minutes April 10th, 2017 The meeting was called to order at 7:01pm by Nick, KD8JBG. Secretary's Report (Josh, KE8DXB): - Approved Minutes of the March 2017 meeting were accepted as published on the website. Treasurer's Report (Rich, WA8MTI): - Approved General Fund: $3,352.99 Membership: $101.75 Cash: $10.00 Total: $3,464.74 Treasurer's report was accepted as read. Upcoming events: Skywarn Training held last month (April) for Kent and Ottawa Counties, a good number of those in attendance at this month’s meeting were also in attendance at the training session. Ham Fests: Information regarding upcoming Ham Fests can be found on the ARRL website. News worthy items: DigiPan PSK31 released a version the end of March/First of April – Available for visual impaired called “Accessible Digipan” that brings together JAWS and DigiPan. VE Testing: VE Testing is conducted at the VictoryPoint Ministries youth building on the second Saturdays of March, July, November, and December at 6pm. E.A.T This month’s E.A.T. meeting is going to be on April 24th, 2017, led by Jeff, KD8THX. Ham in a Day in April – Five student’s for the Ham in a Day study session and all five passed, three walk in’s at testing time and they all passed. Everything went well during the testing session and all of the call signs went through and were on the website on Monday by 11:00A. “Ham in a Day” Our next Ham in a Day will be held at 1pm on August 12th. VE Testing follows each event at 6pm. Simplex Net - Plan to be on 2 Meter Simplex at 146.530 Mhz at 7:30 this evening.  This net is headed up by Aaron Folkert, KD8VUN.  If you would like to act as net control or have any ideas for improving the net, please contact Aaron.  Hope to hear you on the air! Old Business: Windmill’s on the Air – May 14th. If interested contact Phil Van Huis at pjvanhuis@wmol.com Multiple Stations (cw and PSK31) Spark in the Park: This year’s event will be held on August 19th from 9am-1pm. Right now there are eight clubs are confirmed, with two clubs still to reply for a total of ten. Michigan State Parks on the Air (MSPOTA): From the MSPOTA Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/MSPOTA2017/): “The NORTHERN MICHIGAN AMATEUR RADIO SERVICE TEAM (NM8RT) is working directly with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Parks & Recreation Division to operate a three year HAM Radio event "Michigan State Parks on the Air". MSPOTA is slated to kick-off in June of 2017.” Field Day: Jeff, KB8QAP HARC makes a donation to reserve East Saugatuck Park for field day June 24th and 25th. Josh, KE8DXB will reach out to a board member of the park to secure the use of the park again this year. Last year we had six stations and Jeff is looking to have at least six stations and an increase in participation from club members. American Red Cross is looking for people to serve the community and be radio communication for first aid help during the three parades during this year’s Tulip Time Festival 15 for Wednesday and Thursday 25 for Saturday Please contact Tom Bosscher at K8TB@bosscher.org if you are interested in helping. New Business: The repeater had an exciter that went bad, luckily we happen to have a spare, so we should be up and running properly this week once the exciter is replaced.
