General Membership Meeting Minutes May 9, 2016 The meeting was called to order at 7:00pm by Nick, KD8JBG. Secretary's Report (Todd, W8YHF): Minutes of the April 2016 meeting were accepted as published on the website. Treasurer's Report (Rich, WA8MTI): General Fund: $3,803.02 Membership: $126.76 Total: $3,929.78 Treasurer's report was accepted as read. VE Testing: VE Testing is conducted at the Red Cross (schedule TBD) “Ham in a Day” events will be held at 1pm on June 11th and October 8th in Lowell, and on August 13th and December 10th in Holland. The Allegan County Amateur Radio Club (http://ac8rc.org/) is holding a foxhunt on Tuesday, May 24th: Gather up the antennas and the maps. And include Allegan County. Starting at 6:30 PM on 145.53 the Robo Fox will be transmitting 1 minute on, 2 minutes off. May 24, a Tuesday. The starting location will be the Allegan High School at 1560 M-40 in Allegan. Talk in will be the 147.24 repeater. The Fox will be within 5.85 miles of the starting point. This hunt is open to all folks, licensed amateur radio operators or not, and you do not have to be a member of the Allegan County Radio Club. Sheila, K8AJ and Tom, K8TB Tulip Time: The parades will be held on May 11th, 12th, and 14th (Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday). Please contact Tom, K8TB (k8tb@bosscher.org) to volunteer. We need 15 operators for the Wednesday and Thursday parades, and 25 operators for the Saturday parade. Field Day information has been posted on the reflector. Amazon Smile: HARC has set up an account on Amazon to receive a percentage of our members’ Amazon purchases if they choose to designate HARC as their selected charity. Ham in a Day / VE Testing: Bob Broene, K8RJB has been appointed the chairman of the Ham in a Day program. HARC is working with the Lowell Amateur Radio Club on scheduling Ham in a Day and VE Testing. E.A.T: E.A.T. has been discussing beginning and advanced electronics technology topics during each meeting. We will begin a series on Arduino this fall. Outing for Scouting: Bob, K8RJB is looking for volunteers set up and help during the day at the Boy Scouts “Outing for Scouting” on October 15th: https://scoutingevent.com/?outingforscouting The event will be held at Berlin Raceway. This event runs concurrently with Jamboree on the Air. Kiwanis Shoe Drive: Hank, K8HLD mentioned that the Kiwanis Club of Holland is having a shoe drive. They are looking for old shoes in good condition; they will be sent to developing nations. You can bring your shoes to a club meeting and give them to Hank. Phil, K8PVH: Elite Activewear (based in Holland. MI; http://eliteactivewear.net/) has been used in the past. Thank You: Fawn, KE8CWA sent the club a thank you note for running the Ham in a Day class. Getting a ham radio license was one of Fawn’s personal goals. The business meeting was adjourned at 7:23pm, followed by a video on W3AO field day operations.
