General Membership Meeting Minutes April 11, 2016 The meeting was called to order at 7:00pm by Nick, KD8JBG. Secretary's Report (Todd, W8YHF): Minutes of the March 2016 meeting were accepted as published on the website. Treasurer's Report (Rich, WA8MTI): General Fund: $3,741.97 Membership: $126.76 Total: $3,868.73 Treasurer's report was accepted as read. Upcoming events: Programs: April: 4/25 E.A.T.: Tulip Time Radio Programming (see Old Business below) May: 5/9 Monthly Meeting 5/23 E.A.T.: Instructional electronics videos, and a presentation on more advanced topics by Jeff, KD8THX. VE Testing: VE Testing is conducted at the Red Cross on the second Saturday of each even-numbered month at 6pm. “Ham in a Day” events will be held at 1pm on June 11th and October 8th in Lowell, and on August 13th and December 10th in Holland. Old Business: Tulip Time: Nick, KD8JBG would like to get everyone together for a radio programming party in the days prior to this years’ parades. We will make this the program for the April E.A.T. meeting. The parades will be held on May 11th, 12th, and 14th (Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday). Please contact Tom, K8TB (k8tb@bosscher.org) to volunteer. We need 15 operators for the Wednesday and Thursday parades, and 25 operators for the Saturday parade. Field Day information has been posted on the reflector. Hank K8HLD made a motion to spend not more than $400 for field day supplies, including food, gas, and a $100 donation to East Saugatuck Community Park. Motion passed. Amazon Smile: HARC has set up an account on Amazon to receive a percentage of our members’ Amazon purchases if they choose to designate HARC as their selected charity. All 17 passed the Technician exam, and 5 went on to get the General license! Two General class licensees took the Extra class exam; both passed. Bob Broene, K8RJB will be taking the lead on the Ham in a Day program. The Lowell Amateur Radio Club (http://w8lrc.org/) will also be offering a Ham in a Day class on June 11th. Motion passed to institute an informal cross-promotion alliance with Lowell Club for Ham in a Day activities. E.A.T: 17 people attended the last meeting. E.A.T. has been discussing beginning and advanced electronics technology topics during each meeting. We will begin a series on Arduino this fall. New Business: Outing for Scouting: Bob, K8RJB is looking for volunteers set up and help during the day at the Boy Scouts “Outing for Scouting” on October 15th: https://scoutingevent.com/?outingforscouting The event will be held at Berlin Raceway. This event runs concurrently with Jamboree on the Air. Kiwanis Shoe Drive: Hank, K8HLD mentioned that the Kiwanis Club of Holland is having a shoe drive. They are looking for old shoes in good condition; they will be sent to developing nations.
