General Membership Meeting Minutes November 9, 2015 The meeting was called to order at 7:02pm by Tom K8TB. Secretary's Report: Minutes of the October meeting were accepted as published on the HARC website. Treasurer's Report: General Fund: $3416 .21 Membership: $336.76 Total: $3752.97 Treasurer and secretary reports were accepted as read. Opening Remarks: Jan 1, Kim N8KAL is taking over as head VE. A request was made to the Holland Sentinel to get our next VE testing session published. An email was also sent to AMR ambulance service to make them aware of the test session. Tom K8TB will be holding a weekly General license class starting Jan 13 at the Kent County Red Cross. We renewed our status as an ARRL Special Service Club. Ottawa County Skywarn is looking for a deputy coordinator. West Michigan Aviation Academy made contact with the International Space Station on October 23, one day later than originally scheduled due to a problem on the station. Upcoming events: December The club’s 10th Ham in a Day event will be held December 12th. Programs: VE Testing: VE Testing is conducted at the Red Cross on the second Saturday of each even- numbered month at 6pm. “Ham in a Day” events are held prior to the April, August, and December VE testing sessions at 1pm. New Business: Tom asks if there is interest in the club in putting on Spark in the Park again for 2016. Cost is approximately $80 split between the clubs. Looking at the third weekend in August. The December meeting will feature a talk by antenna designer Roger from Grand Haven. Ben Reels, the Grandson of a former club member, wrote that he received his grandfather’s radio from the club and thanks us. He is about to graduate college and will let us know when he gets on the air. Yaesu sent the club polo shirts after our purchase of a Yaesu System fusion repeater. They were given away at the end of the meeting. Jim Lamberts donated CW cassette tapes to the club. The ARRL teamed up with the National Park Service for a 100th anniversary year long contest. Work the various national parks. The annual post holiday club banquet could be held at or Rock Island Restaurant. Their banquet room seats 55. Cost is 15.95, all inclusive. Looking at the third monday in January for this event. Another possibility is Farmhouse Restaurant in Zeeland. $17 per person there. A membership application came in the mail along with a check for $20 from a couple Linda and Jim Formsman K7BIE and wife K7BOO. Phil K8PVH asks that we get them a Christmas card and have the club sign it at the next meeting. Meeting adjourned after introductions at 7:48 pm.
