General Membership Meeting Minutes May 11, 2015 The meeting was called to order at 7:00pm by Tom, K8TB. Secretary's Report: Minutes of the April 2015 meeting were accepted as published on the HARC website. Treasurer's Report: General Fund: $4,018.93 Membership: $86.76 Total: $4,105.69 Treasurer's report was accepted as read. Opening Remarks: John Bok N8WVN continues to recover from a serious injury due to a fall. We wish him a speedy recovery. Charlie Gregory N8QEM has recovered from an illness and was released from the hospital. Tom K8TB has compiled a list of local frequencies for a programming radios. Tom then makes a motion to spend not more than $100 on programming cables for the club. Kim offers his Kenwood cable for club use, but will retain ownership. The motion passes. These will be used at the June business meeting to program HTs. There was a Field Day meeting held. Phil K8PVH makes a motion to spend not more than $400 for field day supplies, including food, gas, and a $100 donation to East Saugatuck Community Park. The motion passes. Upcoming events: IRA Ham Swap: Saturday June 6, is the IRA Ham Swap. Located at the Hudsonville Fairgrounds, from 8:00am to 12:00pm. Dayton Hamvention: The Kalamazoo club is again offering a bus trip to Dayton. June 27-28, ARRL Field Day HARC will be participating in ARRL Field day. This year’s location is East Saugatuck Community Park. VE Testing: VE Testing is conducted at the Red Cross on the second Saturday of each even- numbered month at 6pm. “Ham in a Day” events are held prior to the April, August, and December VE testing sessions at 1pm. Thanks to the VE team. The next Ham In a Day is August 8. August 1, at the Grand Rapids Home School building will be the second annual Spark in the Park. 5 clubs are co-sponsoring the event, with HARC as the lead. 3-8pm. Tulip Time was a success, although we were about 4 hams short. This did not go unnoticed. Next year there will be new coax and antennas installed at Tulip Time EOC for use by Net Control. We hope to have a Ham mesh net with cameras in place in the future. New Business: Spark in The Park No charge to attend, event starts at 3:00pm. At 6:00pm attendees will be asked to show their "go kits." Yaesu Fusion Repeater The new repeater on the Warm Friend is now online. Letter to the Club Ben Roels, Grandson of past HARC member Hollis Roels W8FIZ, wrote a letter to the club. He is now a Ham and would like to purchase back the Yaesu FT-897 that was donated to the club upon his grandfather's death. Chuck makes a motion to donate the radio back to him. The motion passes. Chuck’s CW Class Chuck presents Todd and Ken with their ten words per minute certificates after graduating CW class. Park to Park Race Support Request W8YHF Todd Boss’ church puts on a half marathon in September and has asked the club to provide communication support for the event. Six operators are needed for use in the fairgrounds. Tom makes a motion to support this event. The motion passes. The race is to take place Saturday September 26, 8:00am. The business meeting was adjourned at 7:44pm followed by a presentation by Andy N8HUB showing his 2 meter 3D folded dipole antenna.
