General Membership Meeting Minutes March 9, 2015 The meeting was called to order at 7:00pm by Tom, K8TB. Secretary's Report: Minutes of the February 2015 meeting were accepted as published on the website. Treasurer's Report: General Fund: $4598.76 Membership: $86.76 Total: $4685.52 Treasurer's report was accepted as read. Opening Remarks: 9 people signed up for next HAM in a day. KB6NU has a online pamphlet for new hams, also study guides for testing. Provide a pamphlet to let new hams know where to find their license since FCC no longer mails paper copies automatically. The Ann Arbor club is offering a one day bus trip for Dayton Hamvention. Cost is $65, see http://www.w8pgw.org/activities/dayton-bus-trip/ for more information. Upcoming events: Programs: April: EAT meeting, fourth monday of the month, will be making tape measure yagis for direction finding, ie, "Fox Hunting." KC9ON makes an offset attenuator for use in direction finding for about $11. http://kc9on.com/store/kits/fox-hunt-offset- attenuator/ CW class is ongoing. Marshal hamfest is now known as the Cross Roads hamfest. Located at Wings Stadium, Kalamazoo. April 11, 2015 “Ham in a Day.” This is an opportunity for anyone wishing to get their amateur radio technician license to study and take the exam all in one afternoon. Directed study starts at 1:00 and continues till 6:00, when the test will be given. For registration and more information, go to: http://tinyurl.com/harchiad . Also, anyone holding current technician and general licenses may arrive at 6:00 and take the tests to upgrade. VE Testing: VE Testing is conducted at the Red Cross on the second Saturday of each even- numbered month at 6pm. “Ham in a Day” events are held prior to the April, August, and December VE testing sessions at 1pm. Old Business: Skywarn training was successfully held at Jenison Fine Arts Center on February 19. Field Day We need a chairman for field day. John Hanse has volunteered and is looking for help and band captains. East Saugatuck Community Park is the likely location pending confirmation of cost. Spark in the Park August 1, at Grand Rapids Home School building. HARC is putting it on with cooperation from other local clubs. Gym cost is $400, split by 5 clubs. Club voted to allocate $80 for our share of the cost. Yaesu Fusion Repeater Expect to take delivery in two or three weeks. New Business: No new business to report.
