Holland Amateur Radio Club Board of Directors Minutes of Meeting January 5, 2015 Call to Order: 7:00pm, Holland Red Cross President: Tom K8TB Vice-President: Bryan KD8LDX Treasurer: Phil K8PVH Secretary: Phil KD8TEW Also in attendance: Jim KC8KE Deb KD8WZZ Dave WA8RSA Bob KE8ABG General Discussion: Phil K8PVH received a card from the Brockmeier family thanking the club for it's support. Noted that donation check has not yet cleared. Tom K8TB suggests updating Warm Friend repeater's antenna and radio equipment to Yaesu digital system. Regular Ham in a Day sessions will continue for 2015. Tom and Phil exploring ideas to better equip Ham in a Day graduates. Bob Heil books paid for by the club is suggested. HARC will be the primary sponsor for Spark in the Park, August 1, 3:00-8:00pm at Grand Rapids Homeschool building. Materials such as HARC brochures, etc., are needed to hand out at events. Tom plans to setup a Google phone account to direct calls for HARC. Possible Amateur radio booth at Grand Rapids maker fair? We are looking for ways to market the club and license more Hams Tom suggests a change to the bylaws to officially change meeting nights from Tuesday to Monday. Also keep in mind the possible need to look for another facility other than Red Cross. Possibly M-Tech? Bryan KD8LDX suggests making a PDF file of the club call book available online in lieu of reprinting. Ideas for future meeting presentations: Gordon West Skype, Antennadyne, Andy N8HUB's 2 meter antenna, a revisit from Muskegon solar panel company, Coast Guard ship locating, satellite presentation from Doug, presentation about Ottawa county towers and radio system from Mark, visit of 911radio room, military CW teacher K8AH. Bryan suggests 6 months worth of EAT meetings focused on fox hunting. Tom Wilson KD8DEG to host Technicians and unequipped Generals for Michigan QSO party. Also may host regular open radio room. Would like to have the Field Day coordinator selected by February. Potential for the club to take ownership of the HARC website in the fall. Need to appoint a club webmaster and explore hosting options.
