Holland ARC General Membership Meeting Minutes November 12, 2012 Meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by president, Ike, K8EMU. Introductions followed, with Ike making a special note to have all Veterans stand and be thanked. Minutes of the October 2012 meeting were accepted as noted on the HARC’s web site. Treasurers report: $4,839.02 in the general fund and $166.76 in the membership fund, for a total of $5,005.78. The report was accepted as presented. Old Business: Jim, W8MRR noted that the membership roster will go to the printers within the week. These will be printed by the Skill Center for less than $250 for 250 copies. Jim, W8MRR made a motion to give a copy to every member and sell the other copies for $1.00. The motion was seconded and approved. Ike, K8EMU brought up the November 26 meeting at Ottawa County Emergency Management for those that wish to be formally involved with Ottawa County Skywarn next year. All credentials must be renewed. Events: Ike, K8EMU brought up the Parade of Lights parade coming up on November 27. The parade will start around 6:30 PM. Joe, N8FQ asked the members about interest in winter snow reports. There were several folks interested and Joe then indicated that he will continue the snow fall nets at 7 pm. Joe also brought up that there will be a Muskegon Severe Winter Training class on November 13. Ed, KF8EV reminded everyone about the Monday night net at 7:30 pm on the ’06 repeater. New Business: Bryan, KD8LDX made a motion to have another Ham in a Day class in March or April. There was discussion and the motion was seconded and passed. There was then a 30-40 minute open discussion on the future of the club - how to get more members in, do we have classes, do we even want to grow? Nick, KD8JBG made a motion for the club to look at having a second meeting every month, dependent on a location, to have mentoring and teaching classes. Motion was seconded, discussed and passed. Ike, K8EMU noted that next month’s meeting will be elections. A question was raised about absentee ballots. Jim, W8MRR made a note that the club’s bylaws do not allow for absentee voting.
