Holland ARC General Membership Meeting Minutes July 9, 2012 Meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by our president, Ike, K8EMU. Introductions Secretary’s report was read and accepted. Treasurer’s report: Total balance of $4,786.27. Read and accepted. Old Business: Tom, K8TB brought up the refrigerator that we brought over from the old club house. The Red Cross uses it, but minimally. Tom, K8TB made a motion that we donate the refrigerator to the Red Cross. Seconded and passed. Jim, W8MRR asked for a copy of the bylaws and constitution, which was supplied. New Business: Committee Reports: Education, Chris, KC8RQT reports that we are waiting for confirmation from the Red Cross for the use of the building for Ham License in a Day for September 22. This will be conducted by Bryan, KD8LDX, Joe, AC8JD and Tom, K8TB. Chris, KC8RQT brought up that the Grand Rapids ARA will be holding an eight week general class starting September 19, taught by Tom, K8TB. Tom’s agreement with GRARA was that GRARA receives $10 per student and the Holland ARC receives $10 a student. GRARA agreed. Chris asked for a motion for HARC to agree. Motion was made, seconded and approved. Field Day. Bryan, KD8LDX reported on the total points for Field Day was 3,598 for class 6A. The club wished to thank Bryan, KD8LDX and Phil, K8PVH for their co-chairing and a special thank you to Kim, N8KAL for his chef appearance, and thanks also to the various band captains. It was mentioned that Laryn, K8TVZ and John, WD8BWK helped with the Graafschap 4th of July car event. Tom, K8TB spoke about how Mike, W8DER and Tom represented the Holland ARC at the ARRL Michigan Section Outing in Lupton, put on a Fox Hunt presentation and hosted a 4 transmitter hunt in the woods. Jeff, KB8QAP thanked Joe, N8FQ and Hank, K8HDL for their CERT work on the 4th of July in Grand haven. Jeff also brought up the need for communicators for the Coast Guard parade in Grand Haven. The members then talked about listening for new calls on the repeater and talking to and encouraging people new to the repeater. Jeff also showed his paperclip cw key paddle. Jeff and Chris, KC8RQT then talked about inexpensive kits that can be built. Jeff indicated that he was going to try to light up the south Grand Haven light house for the international lighthouse day in August. Ike, K8Emu has received an email asking about the status on the 440 slow-scan weather radar server. Joe, N8FQ stated that it has been off the air for two years due to the Holland ARC losing free Internet access at that site. Ernie, W8EL reminded the club of the upcoming Alzheimer Walk in Holland on August 25 and the need for communications for it. There was a short break from 8:05PM to 8:20 PM.
