March 12, 2012 General membership Meeting Minutes -Meeting called to order at 7:00 Am by Ike, K8EMU 22 in attendance. -Ike started the meeting with introductions of everyone in the room. -Minutes of the February, 2012 meeting were read and approved. -Treasurers report was read. $ 2500 in the swap account, and $ 2,254.92 in the general account for a total of $ $ 4,754.92 This report was approved. OLD BUSINESS -Ike talked to Steve Vanderhill, N8UJD to handle to the Emergency Communications Committee slot. Steve said he will do it, time permitting. -Field Day, this year will be headed up by Phil, K8PVH and Bryan, KD8LDX. Kim, N8KAL will be our chef for the annual Field Day dinner at 6:00 PM . -Dave, WA8RSA stated that the Tulip Time Parade will require the criminal background check this year, and they will also require volunteers to sign “hold harmless” forms. New Business -Education Committee. Chris, KC8RQT stated that the club will hold a “build your own flexible J-pole antenna next week Monday, March 19 at 7 pm at the Red Cross. Cost is $ 5.00 He requested help with bringing tools. -Constitution and Bylaw Committee. Ike had asked Rick, N8GGO to head this committee, and Rick declined. Jim Jipping, W8MRR volunteered to head this committee up. -There was various talk about having a membership committee, to keep track of incoming and past members. Phil, K8PVH said that he will be watching these details for now. -There was talk about the ownership of the club’s website, and its cost. -Newsletter editor. Ike asked for a volunteer. There was none, and members present pointed out that as long as the information is on the web site, that there is not a hard need for a separate newsletter. -Insurance policy. The club used to have a policy for liability at the club house, and for the annual swap. Since neither is there anymore, the club has dropped the policy, with its significant cost savings. -State and federal tax filings. Phil, K8PVH and Jim, KC8KE will make sure the club files the proper forms. -Ike brought up that the Red Cross will be having a CPR class, with a sponsor paying the cost. Limited class size. -Meeting closed at 7:40 PM. Program Outstanding presentation by Jim, KC8KE, showing his 300+ country QSL card collection. He utilized a Power Point presentation showing some of his special cards, including one that took over 24 year to receive. Jim has all the countries and entities you can work, worked and confirmed. Quite the feat.
