Holland Amateur Radio Club RST Newsletter January 2010 Megan's Message and Musings With the changing of the calendar there was a changing of the guard at the Holland Amateur Radio Club. This new year brings promises of some new and exciting events. It is one of my goals as your new President to offer something of interest for everyone, so we plan to kick off quite a few new projects, programs, and a pursuit to make our club a premier organization for all amateurs in and around the Holland area. After our first Board meeting the anticipation and excitement is at a record high. Following a lapse of several years, we submitted our club roster to the ARRL and we are once again an affiliated club, now proudly displaying the ARRL diamond logo on the newsletter masthead. We have submitted paperwork and hope that by the time you read this we will also be a Special Service Club! We are planning a calendar to be filled with a whole year of activities that include field trips, guest speakers, joint programs with other HAM organizations, “Make and Take” classes, an increased level of participation in community events, and a new membership drive! As you see, we have re-activated our club's newsletter. We will cut printing costs by using email and website download to distribute to our members. These electronic publication methods also align us with the current “green” ways of thinking. I would like to say a big Thank You! I would our past president Chuck Rich, W8GCW, our past secretary Chris Dandrea, KC8RQT and our outgoing SuperSwap chair Tom Bosscher K8TB and Sheila Bosscher K8AJ, who have given years of service to the Holland Amateur Radio Club. Tom K8TB and Sheila K8AJ were recognized as our “Ham of the Year” for 2009 for their efforts. So now, with everyone's help and support, we ask you to put “US” to the test to make the Holland Amateur Radio Club the BEST!!! Remember, without “U” there is no “US.” Looking forward to a great year! 73, WO0MEG MEETING MINUTES Please contact the Secretary with comments or corrections.
